Space technologies for disaster management – IPSEC 2024 speaker interview

We speak with Laura Anne Edwards, Innovation Catalyst – Climate/Space, Oxford Space Initiative and get an introduction to Data Oasis and the relationship to space technologies for disaster management: building resilient communities.

The Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference and Exhibition 2024 (IPSEC) will take place from 26 to 28 November at Crown Perth, Western Australia, alongside the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF). The conference will feature leading experts, interactive workshops, and an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in space and earth sciences.

Laura served on the US State Department Advisory Committee for Technology and Innovation/Public Private Partnerships and is currently a founder of LabGovCE, a global co-investment platform to build climate justice infrastructure. She is a Teaching Fellow at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford lecturing on Smart Space, a TED Speaker and a Buckminster Fuller Design Science Studio Resident.

She is a NASA Datanaut, a founding member of the Oxford Space Initiative, and was named a 2021 Top 50 Leader in Space Tech. Laura consults and speaks globally on sustainable innovation, and design thinking for the era of climate change and “smart” space.
