SIA-India joins Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference as Knowledge Partner

The Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference (IPSEC) is thrilled to announce its partnership with SIA-India as a Knowledge Partner for the upcoming 2024 conference.

IPSEC brings together leaders from across the Indo-Pacific to foster trade and investment opportunities in space and cross-sector technologies and innovation. Following a successful inaugural conference in 2023, IPSEC returns with a broader scope, co-located with the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) and the Andy Thomas Space Education Forum, creating a comprehensive week of activities at the same venue.

Strengthening Australia-India Collaboration

In line with the Australian Government’s recent announcement of A$18 million (INR 98 crore) in funding for three collaborative civil-space projects under the International Space Investment India (ISI India) Programme, this partnership underscores the commitment to fostering collaboration between Australia and India in the space sector.

SIA-India will facilitate an Indian delegation’s visit to Perth, supported by Invest and Trade Western Australia (Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation).

SIA-India is dedicated to advancing sectoral interests, accelerating industry growth, and catalysing innovation through strategic engagements with key governmental and global stakeholders. By working with policymakers, regulatory bodies, and standardization entities, SIA-India aims to create a vibrant and innovative ecosystem.

“We are honoured to join the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference (IPSEC) as a Knowledge Partner,” said Rajeev Gambhir, Deputy Director General, SIA-India. “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in fostering deeper ties between the space sectors of Australia and India. By bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, IPSEC 2024 provides a unique platform to explore new opportunities and drive advancements in space technology and cross-sector innovation. We look forward to contributing to this dynamic event and furthering the growth and success of the space industry in the Indo-Pacific region.”

Pre-Event Activities and Cultural Highlights

Leading up to the Indian delegation’s visit, there will be an Australia-India webinar titled “Opportunities for Collaboration between Australia and India across Space and Adjacent Industries.”

Anil Prakash, Director General, SIA-India said

“This partnership with the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference as a Knowledge Partner marks a significant advancement in our mission to drive progress in the space technology sector. It enables us to collaborate closely with Australian counterparts, particularly on integrating space technologies with terrestrial industries. This collaboration will showcase how space research can revolutionize key sectors such as agriculture, resources, energy, and defense. As an industry association, SIA-India is dedicated to promoting innovative solutions and fostering international partnerships that benefit the broader Indo-Pacific region,”

David Matrai, Conference Committee Chair, Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference, acknowledges the opportunity. “We look forward to welcoming Indian delegates to Perth and we are excited to welcome SIA-India as a Knowledge Partner to the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference. The week brings together three events including the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum, the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference and the Andy Thomas Space Education Forum plus a joint APRSAF-IPSEC 3 Day Exhibition to create even more opportunities for visiting Indian delegates.”

IPSEC extends its gratitude to the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, our Principal Partner, and Business Events Perth, our Foundation Sponsor, for their invaluable support.

Adding a cultural touch, the shared passion for cricket between Australia and India will be celebrated with a 5-Day Test match at Optus Stadium, starting on 22 November 2024. Located adjacent to Crown Perth, the stadium offers a perfect opportunity for visiting Indian delegates to support their team before the conference.
