Steve Lanyi is the Assistant Director of the Business, Industry and Regional Outreach team for the Department of Home Affairs with over 20 years’ experience working across the Home Affairs and Immigration programs portfolio, including a number of sworn officer roles with the Australian Border Force (ABF). Steve is based in Perth managing a team of Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO) officers who work closely with Government, industry and businesses to provide information on Skilled Migration programs and visa pathways to address workforce needs and skill shortages.

Steve has extensive industry and visa experience working across the Home Affairs and Australian Border Force (ABF) portfolio in a range of engagement and compliance roles and he has a strong interest in working collaboratively with all levels of Government, industry and regional business. Steve and his team specialise in industry sectors including Resources, Oil and Gas and Renewables as well as the Medical, Education, Defence and Space sectors to support Australia’s strong economic development and skilled workforce needs during the post COVID-19 economic recovery period.
